Marsha Schuld is a visual artist living and working in the Rush Lake, SK area. A lifelong artist, Marsha came to art as a career through all her other jobs and interests. “My art is coloured by my life”, says the artist. “Living and working in agriculture and in nature, as well as the friends that surround me, inspires the art that I create.”
Marsha is largely self-taught but has also studied art formally through the University of Saskatchewan and arts programs at Red Deer College as well as attending numerous courses and workshops over the years in a variety of media. That diversity shows in her artwork which ranges across painting to drawing, printmaking and needlework. “I tend to match my medium to my inspiration. I see no need to lock myself down to one technique and prefer to let the subject direct the artwork. Where colour is the main ingredient, I will paint; if texture is the theme, I will draw or make prints; if my mind is wandering to new shapes and ideas, I often turn to needlework,” says the artist. “I feel creativity is nursed through diversity and the switch between media keeps me interested and creative and makes for better artwork”
Marsha instructs classes and workshops in drawing, printmaking, painting and needlearts both from her studio and through Art Gallery of Swift Current. Her artwork has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and won numerous awards. Her work is in corporate and public collections in Canada and the United States.
